First Board of Governors Meeting on 16 Aug 2002

| The first meeting of
Republic Polytechnic’s Board of Governors
(BOG) was held on 16 August 2002 in the
Conference Room (Strathmore Block) at Tanglin
Campus at 3.00 pm. All members were present. |
|
The BOG members started
arriving just before 2pm. The first to
arrive was Mr Paul Martino. Members mingled
over coffee and cake at Level 1, Strathmore
Block. At about 2.30 pm, PCEO gave a
brief pre-meeting presentation on Republic
Polytechnic to BOG members. They then
viewed the static display on Tanglin
Campus & Woodlands Campus. After
this, BOG members proceeded to Level
3 for a group photo-taking session.

The BOG meeting
started at 3.00 pm. Some of the matters
discussed and endorsed include the following:
- Report on the
establishment of Republic Polytechnic
- Appointment of
Principal/Chief Executive Officer
- Appointment of
Deputy Principal
- Appointment of
Academic and Non-Academic Staff
- Appointment of
the Administration and Development
Committees, and Chairmen of School
Advisory Committees
- Permanent campus – appointment
of Selection Panels
- Mission and vision
statements

The meeting ended at
about 5.00 pm, and BOG members proceeded
to Level 1 again to meet with staff over
light refreshments. Members of the media
(from the Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao
and Berita Harian) were also present,
and conducted an interview with Chairman.
The day ended at about 6.00 pm.
