SECTION VII: NEGOTIATION CRITERIA


Once an online database has been identified and deemed suitable, negotiation begins with the online database provider. Where applicable, a consortia price will be sought for cost-savings. During negotiation, some of the issues to be considered are:

  • Unlimited time usage
  • Unlimited number of users
  • No downloading cost and unlimited printing
  • Full access to basic modules
  • Vendor support and consultancy
  • Subscription cost and duration
  • User education and training e.g. on-site training of staff and students
  • Provision of materials for publicity and marketing of online database to faculty
  • Set-up and installation
  • Upgrading version

All negotiation of online databases contract is done by library staff. Only after finalizing the contract will National Library Board (NLB) step in to handle the payment matters.
