Once an online database has been identified and deemed suitable, negotiation begins with the online database provider. Where applicable, a consortia price will be sought for cost-savings. During negotiation, some of the issues to be considered are:
- Unlimited time usage
- Unlimited number of users
- No downloading cost and unlimited printing
- Full access to basic modules
- Vendor support and consultancy
- Subscription cost and duration
- User education and training e.g. on-site training of staff and students
- Provision of materials for publicity and marketing of online database to faculty
- Set-up and installation
- Upgrading version
All negotiation of online databases contract is done by library staff. Only after finalizing the contract will National Library Board (NLB) step in to handle the payment matters. |
