ABSENTEEISM FROM CLASS *Updated 18 April 11

Students who are absent from their daily class or Understanding Test, regardless of reason (including suspension from classes due to disciplinary reasons), will be awarded a "X" grade for that class or UT. Special consideration may be taken into account when awarding the final Module Grade if students are absent from classes with approved LOAs. Students who are absent from UT(s) with approved LOA(s) may be considered for taking the supplementary UT. Information on LOA and the LOA application process can be found here.

Students who are absent for prolonged periods should inform their Program Chair accordingly, via email.

PENALTY FOR ABSENTEEISM FROM CLASS

The following is a list of possible infringements due to absenteeism of students from their classes, together with the relevant penalties imposed:

Debarment from Understanding Test 3 (UT 3)

During any semester of enrolment at RP, any student who misses four (4) or more of his/her assigned classes without approved Leave of Absence (LOA) in a module will not be allowed to sit for his/her Understanding Test 3 (UT3) and supplementary test for that module. A zero grade point will be assigned to his/her UT3 and/or supplementary test grade for that module.

Dismissal From RP

During any semester of enrolment at RP, any student who has been continuously absent from all classes for the first four (4) weeks of the semester, without a reason acceptable to the Program Chair, are liable to be dismissed from the Polytechnic.
During any semester of enrolment at RP, Student Pass holders are required to have a minimum attendance of 80% for all assigned daily-graded classes by the end of Week 15 for each semester. Any Student Pass holder who is unable to meet the minimum attendance requirement is liable to be dismissed from the Polytechnic.
As Creative Engagement module, Professional Profiling module, Portfolio Development module and Project modules are not daily-graded, they are not included amongst the assigned classes for computation purposes.
