FULL TIME STUDENTSINFORMATION & NOTES ON WITHDRAWAL/DEFERMENT OF STUDY *Updated 2 NOV 10Deferment or Withdrawal applications received during the course of study in a semester will only be accepted and processed when the applications together with the appropriate supporting documents are received not later than the last school day of a semester, i.e. the last day of week 15. Applications received after the last school day of a semester and before the release of the semester results will not be processed until the semestral results are released to students. As such, a student who submits his withdrawal or deferment application during this period will be considered to be an enrolled student of RP and is subjected to the rules, regulations and policies of the polytechnic, including RP’s Dismissal Policy. Students who intend to withdraw from or defer their studies are to apply for withdrawal or deferment through the new clearance system. The system can be accessed through “E-services: Students” under “Student Withdrawal/ Deferment” (http://myrp/scs/)  The guidelines for the refund of fees and payable administrative charges upon program withdrawal or deferment can be found under Financial Matters -> Administrative Fees. Withdrawal from StudyStudents seeking to withdraw from their course of study are advised to speak to their Program Chair. They would need to settle any outstanding loans and bills that they may have with the Polytechnic, including the Library, IT Helpdesk, and tuition and supplementary fees. Upon approval of the application for withdrawal, the Office of the Registrar will issue an official letter of confirmation to inform the student that he/she has officially withdrawn from RP. Withdrawn students may return their Tertiary Student Ez-link Card to TransitLink to get a refund of their deposit. For details, please refer to http://www.transitlink.com.sg.  Deferment of StudyStudents may seek to defer their studies in view of various situations that may render them temporarily unable to pursue their full-time studies in the Polytechnic. Students seeking to defer their studies are advised to speak to their Program Chair. They would need to settle any outstanding loans and bills that they may have with the Polytechnic, including the Library, IT Helpdesk, and tuition and supplementary fees. Students seeking to defer their studies in lieu of medical conditions, National Service liability or imprisonment must provide supporting documentation together with their application.
Upon approval of the application for deferment, the Office of the Registrar will issue an official letter of confirmation to inform the student that a place has been reserved for a stipulated period. Effective Date of Withdrawal/Deferment and Fee MattersThe effective date of withdrawal or deferment is determined by the Office of the Registrar after all the formalities stated on the withdrawal/deferment application have been complied with. National Service in SingaporeStudents, who are male Singaporean and before 19 years old (for Secondary 4 Express Stream students) or 20 years old (for Secondary 5 Normal Stream and Institute of Technical Education students) as at 1st January of the year of admission, must obtain approval for deferment from full time National Service in order to pursue full time course of study. They must submit their application to the Deferment Office, Central Manpower Base (CMPB) upon receipt of the Enrolment Notice. Students can request for the Letter of Certification at One-Stop Centre. Students who are called up by their unit for Reservist Training may obtain a Letter of Certification through One-Stop Centre. Students are to support their request to disrupt from Reservist Training. |
