Conditions of admission

This handbook provides students with fast and easy reference to information which they will need during their course of study at Republic Polytechnic.

Although this handbook is not exhaustive, it attempts to include information to guide and inform students. It is in the interest of students to become thoroughly familiar with the contents of this handbook so that they are aware of the Polytechnic's policy, procedures and expectations. This handbook is subject to periodic review and updates.

Information in this handbook is correct at the time of print. Republic Polytechnic reserves the right to discontinue any class, to alter courses, to amend the scale of fees, or to amend any other information without prior notice.

The offer of admission is conditional upon the candidates:

  • having applied for admission through the proper application procedure and conditions,
  • having provided Republic Polytechnic with true and accurate information in the Application and/or Enrolment forms,
  • presenting Republic Polytechnic with the originals of all the educational and other documents during enrolment,
  • declaring physical and mental fitness to pursue the course of study admitted to, and
  • not being a student at any other full-time or part-time course when term commences.

National Service liability

NS liable persons will be granted deferment for Polytechnic Diploma studies (and its equivalent) if they are able to commence the course before 19 years old (for Secondary 4 Express Stream students) or 20 years old (for Secondary 5 Normal Stream and Institute of Technical Education students) as at 1st January of the course commencement year.

Declaration of Undertaking:

All students enrolled into Republic Polytechnic will have signed a declaration of undertaking in the Acceptance of Course form, as shown below:

"I, [Name of student],

  • Affirm that all the statements given by me during admission are true and accurate to the best of my knowledge;
  • Have not deliberately omitted any relevant fact;
  • Understand that if any of the aforementioned information is found to be false or inaccurate, I will render myself liable to appropriate action, including civil action, disciplinary action, dismissal from course, forfeiture of fees, fine and other disciplinary action;
  • Agree to abide by all rules and regulations of Republic Polytechnic relevant to my conduct and study, inclusive of those spelt out in the Student Handbook, as may be enforced from time to time; and recognise that failure to do so may result in my dismissal from Republic Polytechnic; and
  • Understand that the Student Handbook may be amended periodically without prior notification to me."
