Magic Workshop 2011On 6th of December, Service Learning Club‘s (SLC) successfully collaborated with Magic IG to conduct the first ever Magic Workshop! The objective of the workshop was to allow students a better understanding of the magic scene. It is not only a chance to learn, but also a chance for students to pick up some magic tricks. Service Learning Club was proud to have Norvin, a member of Magic IG to facilitate the workshop. He was a very experienced magician who could both entertain and educate the members well. Every step of each trick was taught with patience and a lot of guidance was given along the way. After Norvin’s demonstrations and with guidance from other members of Magic IG, the members from SLC slowly got more familiar with the tricks and were invited up on stage to perform their tricks and got advices from the professional magicians to further improve themselves. “The one which I enjoyed the most was the magic card trick. I was surprised that the magician knows which card was in the deck!” said Ziyang. “I was pretty amazed by the rope trick as it was simple yet mysterious at the same time! It was really fascinating to know what really happens behind all the tricks we have seen” said Jasmine. It was really an interesting experience for everyone with their first brush with performing magic and learning tricks. Even though the tricks were challenging and require more practice to be done before one can stand on stage to perform, SLC members still had fun with the hands on tricks that they were exposed to. It was the process which brought much laughter and fun during the three hours of the workshop. A special thanks goes out the people who attended the workshop, not forgetting the members of Magic IG who were there to make this workshop a success!
“Norvin was very patient and gave in-depth guidance on performing the tricks”
“Everyone was very intrigue by the tricks and was keen to master the skills to perform for future Service-Learning Projects”
“It was a great experience for both groups of students who came together with a common objective – to share and to learn” |
