39th Penang PESTA International Bowling Championships 2012After months of intensive training and preparation, Bowling IG completed their final competition in the 39th Penang Pesta International Bowling Championship 2011. The competiton was held from 16-23 December 2011 at Premium Lanes in Sunshine Square, Penang Malaysia. The team consisted of 12 bowlers who trained real hard to give their best in this competition, which saw many national bowlers from other countries such as Malaysia, Korean, Hong Kong and Thailand. Season bowlers from Singapore Sports School and Singapore Bowling Federation (SBF) also took part in this prestigious competition. Despite the pressure from all the elite bowlers, our bowlers demonstrated their determination and perseverance to secure a position in the masters' category. Shawn Goh, our first year bowler did us proud by qualifying for the masters and open category. He showed great courage and confidence when he competed against the other 23 bowlers from each category. With the high bowl games, Shawn won the 6th placing in the master category. It was the greatest achievement not only to him but everyone in the team who stood by and supported him throughout the competition. Through this trip, our team realised that the support from one another is very important to help our teammates through the competition. With this opportunity to compete at an international level, we develop stronger ties as team-mates. We also gained a lot of knowledge from the different bowlers. It was a great learning journey for every single bowler who embarked on the trip. On the last night, the host organized a victory banquet for all the bowlers to celebrate the victory and friendship that were developed over the few days at the bowling alley. It was an unforgettable experience. Thank you to all who have granted the bowling team the opportunity to participation in the 39th Penang PESTA International Bowling Championships 2011.
