Need assistance to tide over a family financial crisis?

Article by Suzanne Heng

Do you know?

There are several financial assistance schemes in place to assist students in tiding through a family financial crisis. RP Student Wellness Team administers both school-funded and external-funded schemes to help students from low income families. Eligible students may apply for the Student Pocket Money Scheme (SPMS) and Student Emergency Money Scheme (SEMS) throughout the year, whereas external schemes such as PCF Assist and MILK Scholarship are offered based on recommendations during certain periods of the year.

How do I know if I am eligible?

Generally, students are assessed based on the criteria below:

  • A Singapore citizen or PR (applicable to all schemes except SEMS)
  • Household per capita income
  • Disciplinary Record
  • Supporting documents

You will also be invited for an interview at the Student Service Centre (SSC), for us to understand your family situation better.

How do I apply for the financial assistance schemes?

  1. Download the SPMS/SEMS application form from intranet, under OSG (Student Wellness): http://myrp.sg/osg/sw/aboutus_sw_needyfund.asp.
  2. Fill up the SPMS/SEMS application form and attach the necessary supporting documents listed
  3. Submit the completed application documents to One Stop centre (OSC)

If you need further advice regarding the financial assistance schemes, please do not hesitate to email us at help-student@rp.edu.sg.
