Principal's Letter to Parents
Influenza A (H1N1)
1. Republic Polytechnic (RP) would like to advise you that in the light of the current global alert on the Influenza A (H1N1) infection, we are implementing a three-tier defence mechanism on campus, with effect from Monday, 4 May 2009.
2. As the first line of defence, all staff and students will be channelled through a thermal scanning station when they arrive in RP. Further checks will be done on those who show symptoms of having a high temperature.
3. Throughout the day, staff and students will be taking their temperature readings twice, once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Students with a reading of above 37.6 degrees, and staff with a reading of above 38 degrees will be asked to see a doctor and to stay at home until they have fully recovered. If the situation warrants, we will refer them to Tan Tock Seng Hospital for further observation.
4. We seek your assistance in ensuring that your son/daughter brings his/her personal thermometer to campus everyday, until further notice.
5. If you need to visit RP, information including the date and time of visit, personal particulars, telephone number and recent travel history, will be recorded at the thermal scanning station. This is to facilitate contact tracing should the need arise.
6. More information on the Influenza A (H1N1) can be found at http://www.flu.gov.sg or http://www.moh.gov.sg.
If you have any queries, please email to Help-Flu@rp.sg, and we will respond as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
