1. Genomic Analysis AHR
Staff-In-Charge: Dr Ng Hian Cheong and Ms Hon Sook Mei

Capabilities: This lab has the equipment required to support the separation and analysis of nucleic acids.

Major Equipment: DNA Micro Array Printing System, Genetic Analysis System

Current Projects Carried Out:
  • Development of a bacteria detection kit (detection of Escherichia coli) (PI: Dr Ng Hian Cheong)
  • Analyzing Sweat deposits for DNA profiling (PI: Jamson Chow)
2. Proteomic Analysis W52C (W52N2)
Staff-In-Charge: Dr Ventris D’Souza and Dr Sanaul Chowdhury

Capabilities: This lab is equipped to support the separation and identification of proteins.

Major Equipment: 2-D Gel Electrophoresis System

Current Projects Carried Out:
  • To study the effects of cordyceps on liver in terms of protein expression (PI: Jeremy Kong)
  • Expression of major dust mite allergens in yeast expression system (PI: Hon Sook Mei)
3. Microbial and Cellular Analysis W52B (W52N1)

Staff-In-Charge: Dr Alvin Teo, Ms Elaine Yew and Mr Jamson Chow

Capabilities: This lab is equipped to support the culture and analysis of microbes and cells.

Major Equipment: Colour FACS Flow Cytometry System, Fluorescence Microscope, Phase Contrast Inverted Fluorescence Microscope

Current Projects Carried Out:

  • Natural Products to prevent the spread of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) – phase One (PI: Ong Siew Pei)
  • Effect of grapeseed extract on Caenorhabditis elegans facing heat stress (PI: Elaine Yew)
