"if you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you'll dance." I really love the lyrics from I hope you dance by Lee Ann Womack because it reminds me to step out of my comfort zone and give myself a chance at the things I thought I would never be good at."
I have always been interested in pursuing a career in the public service because I think it is meaningful that each day you're presented with opportunities to play a part in impacting the lives of fellow Singaporeans. I was attracted to the developmental programs and exposure to the public service during my university years that will prepare me to take up new challenges upon my graduation which led to my application of the scholarship. I guess the passion and genuine interest in a public service career played a huge part in my successful application. That being said, all that I have achieved wouldn't have been possible if not for the people who believed in me, gave me the opportunities and didn't give up on me even when I failed.

"When faced with setbacks in life, be optimistic and continue to look for opportunities."
The secret to my success is to continue to pursue on what I am passionate in. I decided to take up Diploma in Biomedical Sciences as I truly have passion for Biology. I continue to pursue my study further in Biology as I want to do what I enjoy and contribute to the society. When you pursue what you are passionate in, you will set your priorities straight and work hard to achieve excellence for it. Republic Polytechnic had also provided me a holistic learning environment and taught me core intrapersonal values such as perseverance. Therefore, when I face setbacks in life, I do not let it stop me and continue to look out for opportunities to pursue my passion. Therefore, passionate and perseverance have helped me to secure this scholarship to upgrade myself in the area I am interested in.

"I did not do well for N’levels and failed my O’levels; I then went to ITE and completed my national service prior to coming to Republic Polytechnic. I took the path less traveled and I am better for it. To anyone who has experienced multiple setbacks in life, do not give up. Be resilient and persevere."
I would like to thank my mother for never giving up on me and for always believing in me. I am deeply indebted to my RP facilitators Mr. Mohamad Haiyum for his guidance throughout my time at RP; Mr. Gideon Tan for spurring me on in pursuing physiotherapy; Dr. Alex Ong for guiding me with my FYP; and to Dr. Ian Harris for going the extra mile in helping me to understand biomechanics. I would also like to thank my fellow course mates Hakim Tahar, Charissa Ong, Shukz, Samantha Singham, Mas, Joelynn and Sheril for the good times that we had together studying and having fun.

" Success does not happen in just one day. It requires one to be able to work hard (school and work) as well as dedicating to one’s goal."
I am thankful for many facilitators in RP. I would like to thank Dr Esther Chng for being the Program Chair for DBMS and my Cell Cycle and Oncology Facilitator. Her dedication to the DBMS students and lessons were inspirational to me. I would like to also thank Dr Brandon Ooi, who was my FYP facilitator.

"Take each failure as a learning opportunity and don’t be contented with small success."
I was clear of my goals from day one. I was willing to put in the hard work to achieve these goals and I concentrated all my efforts on it. It didn’t hurt that I found joy in my studies. Naturally, I knew that taking up the scholarship to read physiotherapy would be the next step to further develop my interest.
I thank my parents for always supporting my decisions. I would like to express my gratitude to my facilitators – Ms. Karen Koh, Mrs. Grace Ho, Ms. Cindy Chan, Mr. Christopher Song and Mr Haiyum for sparking an interest in me in Physiotherapy. I would also like to give special thanks to my FYP facilitator, Dr. Isaac Lim for being a great mentor, role model and friend.

Be well prepared for the interview, read up or at least have some background knowledge for what you were applying for. Personally I believe what help me to secure this scholarship, was that I have confidence in myself and at the same time I demonstrated my strong passion and enthusiasm for the health science disciplines.
