RP Orientation Programme 2008
Curiosity, excitement, uncertainty. These were just some of the emotions experienced by RP’s new intake of close to 5,000 students during the start of the three-day Orientation Programme held on 2 April 2008.

School of Technology for the Arts

The School of Technology for the Arts at Republic Polytechnic is designed to deliver graduates who possess both creative imagination and technological expertise, and who will contribute immeasurably to the building of Singapore’s creative industries. STA ventures far beyond technical education because technology alone will not turn Singapore into a global media and arts centre. The critical—and fundamental—ingredient is creativity with a capital “C”!

The familiarization with technology tools will be underpinned by an understanding of and appreciation for the evolution (and revolutions!) of technology-aided media arts.

The STA educational experience begins with a broad-based core of modules that stimulates the creative and critical thinking juices and, in the second year, moves on to diploma specific training. In their final year, students will focus on creative output in putting together their final projects and their portfolios.

Our graduates will be both technology- and aesthetic-savvy and enjoy unprecedented career versatility as the curriculum focuses on artistic creativity and innovative use of technology for the creation, reproduction, and preservation of the arts and media.

Graduates will be able to find employment in industries such as mass media and entertainment, advertising and public relations, science and defence, architecture and interior design, the performing arts and fine arts, and engineering. The richly diverse career possibilities include positions as content creators, computer animators, game developers, design engineers, web designers, art directors, and creative management, and much more!
