iChef Cooking Competition 2011 proudly organised by Republic Polytechnic(RP) School of Hospitality(SOH) has begun!

iChef Cooking Competition began with a fiery start on 5 September 2011. The preliminary rounds were held on 5, 6, 7 & 9 September 2011 due to overwhelming response. More than 80 teams battled out in the kitchen lab @ Oliva. The teams came prepared with their assortment of utensils and secret recipes.

Contestants were excited and could not wait to put their culinary skills to test at the School of Hospitality’s state-of-the-art Oliva kitchen. Their enthusiasm was clearly reflected in their cooking styles, unique recipes and presentation of dishes. Unique ingredients like sugar cane, home-made bread, etc. and a variety of dishes from chicken soup, desserts to kebabs were showcased. It looks like the aspiring chefs of Singapore can be found @ this culinary competition. 

There were some tense moments in the kitchen as some contestants forgot their ingredients, some were nervous, some omitted to add seasoning and some accidentally spilled seasoning. However, this did not stop or demoralise them. The contestants persevered and continue to improvise their dish to the best of their ability.

The judges took their time to taste, critique and provide valuable feedback. They questioned the contestants’ cooking methods, usage of ingredients and even presentation styles. They were definitely impressed with some dishes.
