Holistic View of Student Learning: Moving Beyond Pedagogy

Dr Mark A. Serva

To improve student learning, experts agree that faculty need to increase student involvement in their courses by embracing such pedagogies as project- and problem-based learning. But incorporating effective pedagogies may not be enough. In this talk, I will discuss how faculty can improve student learning by leveraging these ideas, as well as the three main threats to student learning-content, coverage, and teaching.
