K. P. Mohanan
has a Bachelor’s degree in physics from Kerala University, a Master’s degree in English Literature from Meerut University, and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from MIT (1982). He has taught at the University of Texas at Austin, MIT, and Stanford University, and is currently a Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at NUS.

Mohanan is well-known in theoretical linguistics for his theory of Lexical Phonology, and has made significant contributions to syntax and morphology. He is currently engaged in developing a theory of Critical Thinking and Inquiry in Academic Disciplines, and its application to General Education and pedagogy.
