A letter of invitation is used solely for the purpose of assisting participants with visa applications and/ or to obtain funding for their attendance at the conference. Such a letter does not imply any financial obligation on the part of the conference organisers.

Travel Information / Visa Requirements
Singapore Changi Airport is one of the best connected airports in the world with over 100 airlines flying to 200 cities in 60 countries around the world. There are four terminals, Terminals 1, 2 and 3, and also a Budget Terminal for travellers who are looking for more affordable alternatives. Please click here for flight information.

All visitors are required to go through immigration clearance on arrival into Singapore. Visitors must satisfy the following basic entry requirements before they are allowed to enter Singapore:
  • A valid passport with at least 6 months validity;
  • Valid Singapore visa, if applicable;
  • Sufficient funds to stay in Singapore;
  • Confirmed onward/return tickets;
  • Entry facilities to their onward destinations, e.g. visas
Visa is not required for most foreigners travelling into Singapore. The imposition of visas is part of Singapore’s multi-pronged approach in ensuring that Singapore remains a safe and secure place.

Accommodation

There are different types of accommodation in Singapore to suit the different budgets and needs of our visitors. From the very affordable backpackers' inn to the luxurious five-star hotels, you should not have any trouble finding a suitable place in Singapore to stay. Every part of Singapore is made widely accessible by public transport; you can book a hotel in Orchard and still reach Republic Polytechnic in a reasonable amount of time. But do make bookings for your accommodation early to avoid disappointment as some hotels may be fully booked during peak period. You may also wish to take note of some guidelines when booking your accommodation:

All hotels require a credit card number, expiry date and a deposit to proceed with the booking. The remaining payment should be settled at the time of check-out.

Generally, the official check-in time is at 1500 hours and the check-out time at 1200 hours for most hotels. Hotels may allow or may levy a surcharge for late check-out.

Getting Around

Language
There are four official languages in Singapore: English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Most Singaporeans speak English in addition to their own Mother Tongue or dialects. The signages in Singapore are mainly in English.

Weather/ Time Difference
Singapore enjoys a warm tropical weather with occasional rain throughout the year. The average temperature is around 28 degree Celsius. The wettest months are from November to January and the hottest months are July and August. Singapore is eight hours ahead of the Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

Currency / Currency Exchange
Major credit and charge cards are widely accepted. The local currency is the Singapore dollar and cents. Foreign currencies can be changed either in banks or with a moneychanger conveniently located island wide at major shopping centres and airports.

Electricity/ Water
Electricity used in Singapore is 220 to 240 volts AC, 50Hz. On request, most hotels can provide transformers/adapters to guests to convert electrical appliances from 110-120AC, 60 Hz to the local voltage.

Singapore is known for its safe and clean drinking water. Therefore tap water need not be boiled as it is safe for drinking. Bottled and mineral water are also readily available in supermarkets or convenience stores located island wide.

The exhibition site is placed in a central location for the convenience of the participants and ensures high visibility for the exhibitors.

In addition, vendors with novel or educational products may make a request for a 10 minute formal presentation in the exhibition area. (Subject to approval by the organising committee.)

MEALS: Tea breaks, Lunch for 2 pax  
DISPLAYS: Exhibitors should bring their own displays and display stands.  
SET UP/ TEAR DOWN: Set up on 7 March 2012 from 1300 hrs. Tear down on 9 March 2012 before 1800 hrs.    


Cost: The cost of the exhibition space is $700 (inclusive of GST) for 3 days.

Please make your cheque for S$700 payable to Republic Polytechnic.
Cheques must be drawn in Singapore currency.
Payment must be made before confirmation of space.
