Research & Development
We are a team of academics with diverse expertise in the areas of Sports Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Biochemistry and Nutrition. We are active in research and development and our expertise is sought by the relevant industry sectors to evaluate lifestyle aids such as orthotics, sports shoes and back-packs as well as in sports performance enhancement and sport technology development. Several of our members are widely-published internationally in high impact journals and continue to be invited as keynotes, guest speakers and workshop presenters at international, regional and local sports science conferences.
Funding & Innovations
Currently, we are involved in competitively funded projects by the Singapore Totalisator Board, A*STAR, ACRF and the SPA. We have also created several product innovations such as contextualized solutions in performance analysis PDA and laptop-based for sports and daily functional activities.
Collaborations
We are in collaboration with several international universities, namely, University of Otago, Queensland University of Technology and Brunel University. We are also involved in joint research projects with the National Institute of Education and the National University of Singapore. Our partners include the Singapore Sports Council, the Defence Medical and Environment Research Institute, the Ministry of Education and Outward Bound Singapore.
Community Involvement
We believe in working with the stakeholders and the wider community. We continue to contribute to the community through our involvement in National coaching advisory panels and National sports committees. We have also served as editors of conference proceedings, books and as reviewers for the scientific community for projects and scientific manuscripts.
Facilities
We boast a world-class research and development facility that includes an integrated movement analysis system comprising a 4-sensor Codamotion Active Marker Mocap system, a HP-Cosmos gaitway instrumented treadmill, a 16-channel wireless Megawin EMG system, a walkway with 3 portable Kistler Forceplates. We offer turnkey solutions to the analysis of human performance in sports and daily living and will be looking to add more equipment to our inventory in the near future. |
