IT Security TDC has identified the following six core
competencies as the essential skills and attributes in which the
center need to be effective in order to carry out our mission:
1. Cryptography
Ability to apply mathematical techniques for information
security such as confidentiality, data integrity, entity
authentication, and data origin authentication.
2. Biometrics
Ability to develop biometrics systems that
use various technologies such as fingerprints scanner to
perform Authorization, Authentication and Access Control.
3. Penetration Testing
Penetration testing is the controlled attempt at penetrating a
computer system or network from an "external" network in order
to detect vulnerabilities. The center focus on the ability to
provide the know-how, tools and testing methodology to perform
such test to accurately assess the security of a IT system.
4. Intrusion Detection
Intrusion detection and prevention systems monitor and inspect
all inbound and outbound traffic. Their goal is to identify
suspicious patterns that may indicate an attack. The center
focus on the ability to provide the know-how and application of
advance algorithms to detect and prevent such attacks on a IT
system.
5. Data Recovery
Ability to apply effective data recovery techniques for failed
hard drives, raid systems and other storage media and devices
such as thumb drives.
6. IT Forensic
Ability to develop effective analysis tools for IT
forensic work across networked of systems.
