Experiential and Affective Learning is the common core research theme. From the core theme it is further categorized into four sub-themes which will allow for potential research in other areas categorized as the 5Ps.

Investigates the impact and sustenance of outdoor experiences and also an individual’s health & wellbeing. |
Investigates the short term and long term effect of experiential and outdoor adventure learning on participants of diverse population and demographics. |
Investigates the processes and factors that can explain the changes that happen to participants of diverse population and demographics. |
| Profiling: |
Needs analysis phase which involves the gathering of information and profiling of participants to determine the gaps of individuals and learning outcomes of the program. |
| Programming: |
Planning and design phase of the program and experience. |
| Presentation: |
The presentation of an experience in a physically, emotionally and environmentally safe environment in an educationally effective manner. |
| Processing: |
The process in which the facilitator guides the students through reflection discussion or processing tools to achieve the program objective. |
| Plan: |
The post program phase in which a plan is drawn up to ensure follow-up activities and support. |
