Research & Development

We have a multidisciplinary team of academics and researchers who specialise in areas such as physiotherapy, sports psychology, biomechanics, exercise science, exercise physiology and motor learning. Our researchers have published in high impact international journals and have been invited as guest speakers and workshop presenters at both local and international conferences. We are sought after by industry partners for our expertise in programme evaluation, design of randomised controlled trials and product design.

Funding & Innovations

Currently, we are involved in competitively funded projects by the Singapore Totalisator Board and the Ministry of Education Innovation Fund. We have also been commissioned by leading healthcare and wellness companies to conduct research studies in the area of product and wellness programme evaluation.

Collaborations

We are in collaboration with several universities such as the National University of Singapore (NUS), National Technological University (NTU), University of Massachusetts and RMIT. We are also in joint research projects with the Singapore Armed Forces, Health Promotion Board, Alexander Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, Eu Yan Sang Pte Ltd and TRIO33 Pte Ltd. We hope to reach out to more industry partners in areas of wellness and healthcare.

Facilities

We have state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for world class research, including an integrated movement analysis system comprising a 4-sensor Codamotion Active Marker Mocap system, a HP-Cosmos gaitway instrumented treadmill, a 16-channel wireless Megawin EMG system, a walkway and a stair climb set up with 3 portable Kistler Forceplates, a 3 dimensional (3D) optical motion capture system with 16 cameras, Biodex isokinetic dynamometer, Helmas Fitness Testing System, cardiopulmonary exercise testing systems, dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) machine, diagnostic ultrasound machine, electromyography (EMG), near-infrared spectrometer, portable EEG and actigraphy monitors, bioimpedance devices, vibration platforms, balance plates and equipment to measure gross and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, reaction time and agility. We also have therapeutic equipment such as interferential therapy, bioresonance therapy, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy and ultrasound therapy.
