Gamification: Psychology of Gaming in Learning and Development

Today, games have evolved to become more than just a fun past-time. Great effort and energy are expended by players attempting to master a game or unlock certain achievements within games.

The addictive nature of games and the fervent way that some players approach them begs many questions: What compels this behaviour? What makes a game? Can we harness the principles of gaming and apply them for learning and training? What is gamification?

In this course, you will explore the psychology behind gaming and the possible ways of incorporating it into Learning and Development (L&D) practices within your organisation.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • acquire a better understanding of the mechanics behind gamification
  • analyse factors that can contribute to the gamification of the learning process
