Republic Polytechnic String Ensemble brings together talented students with a passion for string instruments including the violin, viola, cello, and double bass.
The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Yeo Jan Wea, a freelance violist with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, and Leader Mentor of the Viola section in Orchestra of Music Makers. He is supported by Li Yongrui Julian, a freelance double bassist with extensive local and international experience, and former Associate Principal of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra.
Under Dr. Yeo’s leadership, the ensemble has performed at major events such as IGNITE! Tribute VII (2019), RP’s Orientation Programme - Jam & Hop (2022 & 2024), and their annual concerts from 2022 to 2024. They have also taken part in external performances like the opening of the Thomson-East Coast Line in 2022.
In 2024, the ensemble celebrated a key milestone with their 20th anniversary concert, Da Capo: From The Beginning, followed by Euphony – No Strings Attached in early 2025.
Dedicated to musical excellence and innovation, the Republic Polytechnic String Ensemble continues to inspire audiences with dynamic performances and a deep appreciation for the beauty of string music.
