A216 Polymer Chemistry

This module aims to provide students with knowledge of the synthesis and characterisation of polymer molecules.

Students will learn the structures, properties and applications of various commodity and engineering polymers. The module also covers speciality polymers, reaction mechanisms such as step growth, chain growth polymerisation, copolymerisation and various polymerisation processes. In addition, students will be equipped with the essential skills and knowledge in the polymeric material characterisation, such as mechanical, thermal and rheological properties, and polymer molecular weight determination.
