A217 Laboratory Skills in Analytical Testing

This module aims to equip students with the practical skills critical for analytical chemistry testing and materials characterisation.

Students will go through the full process of analytical testing from sample and reagent preparation to operation and calibration of the equipment and results interpretation. Students will experience different analytical and materials characterisation techniques commonly used in various industries. Topics include sample and reagent preparation and treatment, chromatographic and spectrometric techniques, practical skills of rheological studies, mechanical characterisation, and microscopy. In addition, it allows students to pick up important troubleshooting skills to solve instrument technical issues.
