A217 Laboratory Skills in Analytical Testing
This module aims to equip students with practical competencies in chemical analysis required for careers in accredited chemical testing laboratories across the food, environmental, and consumer product safety sectors.
Students will gain hands-on experience in the complete analytical testing workflow, from sample preparation, standard calibration, and instrument operation to results interpretation, in accordance with established international standard methods. Topics include sample preparation techniques, volumetric and gravimetric analysis, chromatographic separations, and spectroscopic characterisation. Students will also develop important troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve common issues involving analytical instruments and methods encountered in the laboratory.
