A246 Epidemiology and Public Health
This module introduces the fundamental principles and applications of epidemiology and public health. Students will explore the determinants of health and strategies for disease prevention and health promotion.
The module covers key epidemiological concepts, including measures of disease frequency and association, epidemiological study designs, survey design, and outbreak investigation. Students will also be introduced to evidence synthesis and meta-analysis, alongside the basic principles of economic evaluation in healthcare.
Through an applied learning approach, students will integrate laboratory science knowledge with population health concepts, critically interpret research evidence, and apply evidence-based reasoning to support public health decision-making.
