A251 Medical Laboratory Management
This module introduces students to an overview of the daily routine and responsibilities of a Medical Laboratory Technician: addressing Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), record-keeping, quality control and quality assurance, literature reading, specimen analysis, methods comparison and results interpretation and presentation.
The avenues addressed are applicable in the various specialised disciplines (e.g. Haematology, Clinical Chemistry, Medical Microbiology, and Histopathology) within a Medical Laboratory. This module is a prerequisite for higher modules in the Medical Laboratory Technology track. The module develops a set of generally valuable abilities in medical laboratory investigations, which aids clinicians in the diagnosis of diseases and monitoring the progress of treatment in patients.
