Principles of Chemical and Biological Drug Action is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental principles underlying the actions of chemical and biological compounds used in the field of pharmacology and drug development.
This module combines the principles of chemistry, biology, and pharmacology to explore how drugs interact with living organisms, target specific diseases, and produce therapeutic effects. Students will gain a deep understanding of the chemical and biological principles governing drug action, including drug-receptor interactions, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. Students will also learn about the various mechanisms by which drugs exert their effects on the human body, such as enzyme inhibition, receptor activation, and signal transduction pathways. Concepts of drug metabolism, adverse effects, and the assessment of drug safety profiles will also be covered.
