A315 Petrochemical Technology
Petrochemicals are products manufactured using petroleum or natural gas as raw materials.
This module covers the chemistry, processes and applications of products, intermediates and derivatives from the building blocks of raw materials, namely, olefins (ethylene, propylene and butadiene) and aromatics (benzene, toluene and xylenes). Students will be equipped with the necessary laboratory skills to test and evaluate the properties of the petrochemicals and correlate them to their composition.
