A390 Medication Safety and Sustainability
This module introduces students to the principles and practices that promote medication safety and sustainability in healthcare.
It focuses on minimising medication errors and improving patient outcomes through safe medication-use processes. Students will learn about pharmacy automation, unit-dose dispensing, barcode medication administration, and the management of high-risk medications, including inventory control and medication reconciliation. The module also explores sustainable healthcare practices that reduce environmental impact while maintaining safety and quality. Students will examine how sustainability principles apply to medication prescribing, dispensing, administration, and pharmaceutical waste management, fostering responsible and environmentally conscious healthcare delivery.
