E216 Distribution and Transportation

This module introduces the key principles of distribution and transportation management, with emphasis on efficient transport systems, cost analysis, and traffic operations.

Students learn to apply operational and analytical skills to manage transportation and freight processes effectively. Core topics include international trade documentation and freight procedures such as Incoterms, Letters of Credit, Bills of Lading, and costing methodologies. 

Students gain hands-on experience using IT systems for Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), digital documentation management, and performance tracking. The module examines Internet of Things (IoT) platforms used in transport operations, including track-and-trace systems and AI-powered route-optimisation tools. Emphasis is placed on how these technologies enable sustainable logistics practices that reduce carbon emissions and enhance resource efficiency.
