E251 Circuit Analysis and Control
This module introduces key principles of circuit analysis through the application of Laplace and Fourier Series.
It begins with an overview of Alternating Current (AC) circuits, focusing on the behaviour and interaction of resistors, capacitors, and inductors within AC systems. Students learn and apply fundamental and advanced circuit theories such as source transformation, superposition, and Thevenin’s theorem.
The module also explores the effects of frequency on AC circuit performance and applies Laplace and Fourier Series techniques for circuit analysis. In the second half, students analyse the properties of basic control systems and perform simulation exercises to investigate stabilisation methods for systems with different input signals.
