E251 Circuit Analysis and Control
This module aims to equip students with knowledge of circuit analysis and control theory.
Students will learn to analyse linear Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) circuits in both transient and steady states, use phasors and complex numbers to represent sinusoidal voltages and currents, draw power triangles and perform power factor correction, and apply the Laplace Transform to solve first-order and second-order differential equations.
For control theory, the topics covered include negative feedback, block diagram reduction, transfer functions, poles and zeros, time responses, Routh-Hurwitz criterion, error coefficients, steady-state error, and proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers.
