E253 Electronic Design and Development
Students will gain knowledge and skillsets to develop electronics projects, spanning from initial front-end prototyping to the fruition of the product and system.
The front-end work involves various prototyping platforms, such as soldering and wire-wrapping, to set up the circuit and usage of general laboratory equipment and to eventually test and verify the circuit performance.
This module also covers details of electronics prototyping to system-level assembly. This can involve a combination of a microcontroller platform with external circuitry. Realisation of the product will begin with the design of the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) artwork using computer-aided design (CAD) tools before actual assembly with components and other sub-systems.
