E311 Mobile Communications

This module provides students with a comprehensive understanding of mobile technologies.

Students will gain proficiency in wireless communication principles, encompassing capacity planning, fading, and advanced diversity combining techniques like Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO), as well as multiplexing techniques such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). The module will also cover a range of cellular technologies such as 3G, 4G, and 5G, along with other wireless technologies like Wireless Local Area Network (Wi-Fi) and Bluetooth.

Students will develop practical skills in designing in-building wireless networks and conducting walk tests, utilising industry-standard network design software and testing tools commonly used in the field.
