S214 Sports and Exercise Psychology
Examine how cognition, emotions, and motivation shape performance and participation in sport and exercise.
Topics include attribution, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, confidence, attention and concentration, stress/arousal/anxiety management, and performance strategies such as imagery, goal setting, and self-talk. You will apply psychological principles across diverse populations—from competitive athletes to older adults and persons with disabilities—and explore how behaviour-change concepts support health promotion and sustained physical activity.
