T190 Music Theory for Production
Music Theory for Production introduces fundamental concepts underpinning music creation and production, such as melody, texture, rhythm, pitch, keys, and clefs, as well as modern digital production techniques such as sequencing, editing, and mixing.
The module covers critical theory elements for modern-day music production, including scales, chords, melody construction and rhythm using a Digital Audio Workstation. Using examples taken from popular music literature, students analyse popular music and gain first-hand experience using music technology software to support the creation of music and score notation that helps them practically apply music theory concepts.
