T215 Music Theory Workshop
Music Theory Workshop develops music theory skills by teaching students to recognise and apply the stylistic elements that define popular music of various genres – such as rhythm, melody, harmony, timbre and texture - to produce music arrangements for the media and live performances.
With the use of popular music as case studies, students will aurally identify these elements and explain how these elements function individually, and how, in combination, they define the styles of the musical works. Upon completion of the module, students will be able to produce music arrangements by applying common techniques such as melodic manipulation, voice leading, instrumentation, and harmonisation techniques to realise the stylistic vision for the work.
