T231 Board and Card Game Design

Students will acquire foundational knowledge and skills to design engaging board and card games.

Using the ‘Mechanics, Dynamics, Aesthetics’ (MDA) framework, they will learn to craft games that deliver targeted user experiences by manipulating these three dimensions. In class, students will gain hands-on experiences by creating rapid paper prototypes based on industry briefs. They will also critique the effectiveness of the gameplay experiences they design and suggest improvements to enhance the gameplay for any given game.
