T357 Narrative Video Production
This module deepens students’ understanding of non-fiction filmmaking through documentary storytelling.
It equips students with the creative and technical foundations to conceptualise, plan, and produce compelling short documentaries that highlight authentic people, places, and issues. Key topics include story development, interview techniques, production planning, camera operation, location sound, directing for non-fiction, and editing workflows. Students also explore industry-standard production workflows from pre-production to post-production, with emphasis on storytelling clarity and professional practices.
By the end of the module, students gain knowledge of documentary formats and industry conventions, develop technical proficiency in camera work, sound, and editing, and cultivate professional qualities such as collaboration, adaptability, and ethical responsibility when representing real subjects. Through hands-on projects, students apply these skills in authentic production contexts, preparing for advanced studies or professional roles in the media industry.
