Outdoor Education
Outdoor learning boosts many key skills, including confidence, teamwork and an abiding care for the environment. As a RP PFP student, you’ll develop a foundational understanding of the outdoors and how to navigate their spaces with confidence.

This is your chance to take learning outside. You’ll build confidence, learn to work with others, and develop a deeper connection with the environment. Every activity is designed to help you grow into a more capable, self-aware, and resilient version of yourself.
What is a typical outdoor lesson?

Warm up
Get started with a simple warm-up or a light group exercise to activate your body and mind.

Experience
Step into fun, hands-on challenges like kayaking, outdoor cooking, or rock climbing.

Reflection
Pause and reflect on the common experiences as a team and individually. Think about what you learned and how you can apply it to future situations.
Activities

Kayaking
Step into a kayak and learn how to paddle with purpose while you develop teamwork and communication skills. You'll pick up basic paddling techniques and safety procedures in the calm, safe environment of the RP swimming pool. This is your space to build confidence and practise at your own pace.

Outdoor cooking
Be a master chef for the day! You’ll learn how to prepare a full meal using just a mess tin and a stove. It’s not just about cooking; it’s about thinking on your feet, staying resourceful, and gaining practical skills that go beyond the kitchen.

Rock climbing
Scale greater heights at the RP Xperiential Learning Centre (XLC). Pick up climbing techniques. Besides having fun, you’ll cultivate resilience and fortitude as you work together with classmates to overcome obstacles.
Hear what they say
I enjoyed the outdoor lessons the most as we got to go beyond the classroom and experience various activities such as rock climbing, rafting, and kayaking. I also get to bond with my classmates and even my lecturers during these lessons.— RP PFP Student
