High Accuracy Narrowband-Internet of Things (NB-IoT) based Tracking Device
An existing issue with some current NB-IoT tracking systems is the inaccurate tagging of timestamps to corresponding GPS location data due to mis-synchronisation.
RP has developed a low-cost, reliable tracking and monitoring device designed to easily track the current location of the desired target (object/person).
Technology overview
Mis-synchronisation can pose a problem in some of the existing NB-IoT tracking systems, where the timestamp may not accurately align with the corresponding GPS location data. RP has developed a low-cost, reliable tracking and monitoring device to easily track the current location of the desired target (object/person).
Technology feature
GPS data is accurately timestamped, effectively synchronises time data with position data.
Data can be sent to any cloud servers or IoT dashboards via NB-IoT communication.
The tracking device is encased in an access card form factor that can be worn around the neck.
The tracking device is customisable, allowing data to be streamed to a third-party application server for post-processing and dashboarding.
Provides the ability to locate the live location as well as the historical route.
Allows triggering of alerts when the tracker enters/ exits a preset perimeter.
Potential applications
Logistics: Outdoor asset tracking (mobile assets).
Healthcare: Tracking of patients with dementia and people with intellectual disabilities.
Other features, such as fall detection alerts, vital signs alerts, can be included.
Benefits
Reduces tracking errors due to mis-synchronisation.
Accurately tracks outdoor targets at minimal cost.
Customisable form factor for various purposes.
Commercialisation
The technology is available for licensing and deployment.
