Novel Marker for High Sensitivity Detection of Human DNA
A PCR-based detection method for the presence of human DNA that is at least 500 times more sensitive than the commercial kit available on the market.

Technology overview
Human DNA contamination is an issue in the process of manufacturing devices for molecular and genomic applications. Such devices need to be certified as human DNA-free for sensitive downstream processes.
RP had identified a novel target for the detection of human DNA and developed a highly sensitive PCR-based detection method for the presence of human DNA based on this target. The method is specific, sensitive and low-cost. It meets the requirement described in the ISO 18385 standard (Minimising the risk of human DNA contamination in products used to collect, store and analyse biological material for forensic purposes) in terms of detection sensitivity.
Technology features
Simple and reproducible
Superior sensitivity level in human DNA detection. Compared to a commercial kit available in the market, this method is at least 500 times more sensitive.
Potential applications
Certification of human DNA-free in manufactured products
Identification of human remains in forensic samples
Detection of other animal species for either identification or monitoring purposes.
Benefits
With a higher sensitivity level, efficient routine test procedures can be established by using less sample volume or even pooled samples, saving on the overall test cost.
Products can meet higher standards of requirement, especially in the molecular biology and genomic DNA-related applications.
Commercialisation
This technology is available for licensing and technology transfer.
