About course
Course description
Discover the future of personalised healthcare through this hands-on programme on pharmaceutical and nutraceutical 3D printing. Participants will explore conventional tableting, quality testing, formulation development, and additive manufacturing technologies used in personalised medicine and nutrition. Through practical workshops and laboratory activities, learners will compare conventional manufacturing approaches with emerging 3D printing methods.
The course also covers regulatory perspectives, sustainability considerations, and future opportunities in personalised healthcare manufacturing. Participants will gain hands-on experience in design and 3D printing of model pharmaceutical or nutraceutical dosage forms.
Laptops and workshop materials will be provided for the duration of the course.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Describe the principles of conventional and 3D-printed pharmaceutical and nutraceutical dosage forms
• Recognise the differences between conventional manufacturing and additive manufacturing technologies used in healthcare applications
• Describe the regulatory, quality, and sustainability considerations involved in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical production
• Apply basic formulation and quality testing principles for conventional and 3D-printed dosage forms
• Design simple nutraceutical or pharmaceutical dosage forms using CAD software
• Operate a 3D printer to fabricate model pharmaceutical or nutraceutical dosage forms
• Evaluate the advantages, limitations, and future opportunities of 3D printing in personalised healthcare and nutrition
Target audiences
Professionals, Managers, Executives or Technicians (PMETs), healthcare professionals, educators, researchers, and individuals interested in pharmaceutical innovation, nutraceutical product development, and 3D printing applications in personalised healthcare.
