About course
Course objectives
Exercise adherence refers to the ability to stay committed to regular physical activity over time. Many seniors (older adults aged 60 and above) may find it difficult to start and maintain their exercise routines due to health concerns, reduced motivation, lifestyle changes, caregiving responsibilities, or other challenges that come with ageing.
This course explores why some seniors successfully start and maintain an active lifestyle while others struggle to do so. Drawing on research conducted in Singapore, real-life stories of local seniors, and insights from the book, Singapore Ageing: Issues and Challenges Ahead, participants will learn practical strategies to help seniors overcome barriers, stay motivated, and build sustainable exercise habits.
The course introduces the evidence-based 3As Exercise Adherence Framework: Awakening, Acclimatising, and Activating.
