About course
Course overview
The practical sessions in the course are designed to enable participants to master the application of the pedagogical principles in both designing fundamental movement skills activities and coaching young children. As part of the course attachment, participants will be mentored by a course graduate where participants can discuss and practise on the application of the knowledge obtained during the course.
At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Proficiently conduct safe and enjoyable movement lessons for young children using appropriate instructional strategies.
• Design movement lessons which demonstrate a mastery of pedagogical strategies to effectively engage young children.
Target audiences
Coaches currently coaching/interested to coach young children (under 10 years old) in sport/movement skills.
Course Structure
The course structure comprises:
Asynchronous E-Learning Modules
Practical Face-to-Face Modules
SG-Coach Theory and Foundational Sport Science Theory Exams
Course Attachment
During the course, participants will be provided with opportunities to:
Understand the application of the Game-for-Life framework and incorporate values into an FMS session plan.
Develop a risk management plan for an FMS session (Sport Safety).
Understand the application of Safe Sport in the context of working with young children.
Understand what FMS is and its importance.
Understand and apply the 5Es Framework in coaching FMS.
Apply movement concepts to create varied movement experiences.
Learn a range of engagement strategies which are developmentally appropriate for young children.
Design activities and provide instructions that encourages movement exploration.
Discover and apply inclusive classroom management strategies for coaching young children.
Engage in hands-on practice and apply theoretical knowledge and skills learnt throughout the course.
Course participants are required to fulfil the following course requirements:
At least 80% course attendance and completion of compulsory modules

Each participant will receive a Certificate of Achievement upon fulfilling all requirements of the course.
Course Exemptions
Course participants are eligible for course exemptions for the following modules and/or segments upon submission of relevant supporting document(s):
SG-Coach Theory E-learning
Foundational Sport Science E-learning
SG-Coach Theory Exam
Foundational Sport Science Exam
Practical F2F Module 1
This course exemption list may be reviewed and amended by SportSG and communicated to RP in a timely manner. RP shall collect relevant information required from participants to verify and confirm the exemptions requested by participants, before granting such exemptions.
Any other exemptions requested shall be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by SportSG (administered through CoachSG using its prevailing processes).
