This course aims to equip participants with specialised knowledge and skills in the field of supply chain management, including warehouse and inventory management, transportation operations and freight services, lean process, pharmaceutical and bio-chemical supply chain, and cold chain management etc.
Participants will gain hands-on experience in simulation software, TradeNet application, Warehouse Management System (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), cold chain packaging and equipment, and Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID).

Transportation Management and Operations | This module aims to provide an understanding of the concepts behind the practical and theoretical applications of transportation management and operations in the local context, and the efficient management of industrial and transport logistics. Participants will learn concepts such as transportation management, last-mile delivery, and hands-on use of IT tools for track and trace. |
Freight Services and Operations | This module aims to build students’ knowledge on various aspects of international freight services through a structured, consultative and interactive learning process using relevant case studies from the industry. It intends to equip participants with fundamental industrial knowledge as well as the practical skills needed to function effectively as a specialist in the international freight service industry. |
Inventory Management | This module covers the basic principles of inventory management and aims to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of inventory control techniques, practices, and technologies commonly adopted in the industry. Participants will also be equipped with the expertise to control and manage the inventory operations for different types of stocks. |
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) | This module aims to build on participants’ knowledge of ERP fundamentals by providing an overview of the ERP system as well as system navigation. Participants will also be introduced to the major business processes in the ERP system. Through the hands-on practices on Material Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD) and Production Planning (PP) modules in the ERP system, participants will be equipped with the expertise necessary to perform the procurement, inventory management, sales and production-related transactions. |
Warehouse Management and Operations | This module covers the principles of warehouse operations and their importance in supply chain management. These include warehouse planning and processes, material handling system selection, labour and cost requirements. Through these lessons, the module equips participants to be able to effectively manage the warehouse and distribution operations with benchmarking tools and awareness of the latest technology and development in this industry. |
Pharmaceutical and Cold Chain Management | Through this module, participants will be introduced to Cold Chain management and Pharmaceutical/Dangerous Goods (DG) supply chain management. The topics in Cold Chain management cover cold chain operations, suitable technologies applied in Perishable and Temperature Sensitive Products logistics, and cold chain standards such as CCQI (Cold Chain Quality Indicator), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) and ISO 22000:2005 - Food Safety Management System. The topics in Pharmaceutical/ Dangerous Goods supply chain management cover the applications of regulatory guidelines, logistics handling of Pharmaceutical and DG products, and Good Distribution Practices (GDP). |

Lean Processes and Simulation | This module imparts concepts on process improvement and analysis methods. Participants will learn Lean topics such as value-streamed mapping, setting of SOPs and KPIs and work balancing to effectively improve and balance organisational work processes. In addition, the module introduces the use of simulation to study complex systems. Through hands-on sessions, participants will be taught simulation modelling of service processes, material flow and automation systems. The techniques learnt will enable participants to make effective, data-based decisions on process re-designs and systems implementation. |
Supply Chain IT | This module covers infocomm concepts which are critical to the Supply Chain industry. The module covers the following aspects: information analytics, internet, information architecture and cyber security. Participants will be equipped with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively work in the industry. This module equips the participants with Info-comm concepts, data analysis, visualisation and geo-spatial techniques, cloud computing and e-business technology, collaboration and IOT technology and knowledge in information security. |
Supply Chain Design and Management | This module covers the fundamentals of strategic design and effective management of the global supply chain. The participants will learn about the best-in-class supply chain practices and design strategies being deployed in various industries. This module builds up participants’ knowledge of supply chain fundamentals by strengthening their ability to analyse the current practices and develop improvement alternatives. The participants will develop an understanding of strategies, techniques and best-in-class practices, which can be adopted to improve the operations in respective verticals. |
Project | Participants will undertake an individual project to apply what they have learnt and deepen their understanding of the supply chain management-related topics of interest. |
Entry requirements
Applicants should possess a relevant (Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or Science) local polytechnic Diploma, ITE Technical Diploma / Technical Engineer Diploma / Work-Study Technical Diploma or Degree.
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on evidence of at least five years of relevant working experience or supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or an entrance test. The polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
Conditional Offer
Graduating students (in their final semester) from a local polytechnic or Institute of Technical Education (ITE) may apply for the programme.
