Course description
This two-day course is an introduction to hands-on approach of growing gourmet mushrooms in an eco-friendly way. It is aimed at developing the participant towards a proficient mushroom farmer, ensuring quality and ease of work. The training program covers the preparation stage to the harvesting stage of mushroom production.
Participants will learn about each essential steps required for indoor mushroom cultivation, which includes inoculum and growing media selection/ preparation, grain spawn generation, inoculation of growing media and monitoring and managing all growth phases of mycelia to bring it to matured fruit bodies. Optimum environmental conditions and growth parameters will be discussed along with methods to mitigate contamination. Post harvesting management of spent compost will be briefly introduced. The operation and maintenance of low-tech and high-tech cultivation methods will also be covered. Participants will get a chance to explore Republic Polytechnic's facilities for Aseptic Cell Culture and Controlled Environment Agriculture.

Achieve at least 75% attendance and pass the required assessments.
