SG Coach Certification Exam-Only Pathway for Coaches

Information guide for National Sports Association (NSA).

Eligible Programmes

The eligible exam-only pathway programmes under SG-Coach coaching courses are: 

  • Foundational Sport Science (FSS)

  • Intermediate Sport Science (ISS)*

  • SG-Coach Level 1 Theory 

*To be eligible for the Intermediate Sport Science (ISS) programme, participants must hold a Foundational Sports Science (FSS) certificate, have at least one year of coaching experience, and be actively coaching to meet the necessary course requirements.

How to apply?

Application must only be completed by a National Sports Association (NSA) training administrator. The administrator must confirm whether the participant is responsible for the payment or if the NSA will be covering the fees.

For Self-Sponsored Participants

NSA to follow these steps

  1. Complete and submit Application Form for Self-Sponsored Participants with the participant's details and their preferred exam week.

  2. Once the form is submitted, retrieve the STEP portal link specific to your participant's intended exam week here.

  3. Copy the appropriate STEP link from the page and send it to your participant for them to directly apply via the STEP portal.

Participant to follow these steps

  1. Register via the application link provided by NSA. Refer to the detailed step-by-step guide.

  2. Once all the steps is completed, you will receive an email 1 week before your applied exam week with the link to secure your exam terminal slot.

*Important: You will require to make a exam terminal reservation via MS bookings before coming to RP for the exams. Participants without exam terminal reservations would not be allowed to sit for the exams.

For Participants Sponsored by NSA

NSA to follow these steps

  1. As the training administrator, you will need CorpPass user access to the STEP portal. If you don’t have this access, please consult your organisation’s CorpPass administrator. You may refer to the CorpPass User Access Guide for more details. If you already have CorpPass user access, proceed to Step 2.

  2. Obtain the STEP portal application link here. 

  3. Initiate the online registration and generate application links for participants. Refer to the NSA Guide for more details. 

  4. Approve participant’s registration (within 7 calendar days of participants submitting registration in STEP).

Participant to follow these steps

  1. Register via the application link provided by NSA. Refer to the detailed step-by-step guide.

  2. Await NSA to approve your registration. 

  3. Once all the steps is completed, you will receive an email 1 week before your applied exam week with the link to secure your exam terminal slot.

*Important: You will require to make a exam terminal reservation via MS bookings before coming to RP for the exams. Participants without exam terminal reservations would not be allowed to sit for the exams.

Terms and Conditions

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled exam slot.

  • Exam and re-exam slots are available on a first-come-first-serve basis and full payment must be made prior to the re-exam.

  • No rescheduling is allowed once payment has been made.

  • Please ensure you are properly attired when attending the re-exam. NO slippers, singlets or shorts are allowed.

  • RP reserves the right to turn away candidates who did not meet the necessary requirements or are late.

  • Strictly no refund will be made if candidates did not meet the necessary requirements or did not turn up for the scheduled re-assessment slot.

  • Republic Polytechnic reserves the right to make any changes to the terms and conditions at any point in time without prior notice.

Re-Examination

  • If you don’t succeed on your first attempt, you must log in STEP to make payment for a re-exam.  After which you can book your re-exam slot in the following week.

  • You will only be allowed to sit for the re-exam the week after STEP payment is received/confirmed.

  • Further information regarding the re-exam will be shared in the course notification email sent to participants one week before their designated exam week.

  • Each re-exam costs $54.50 (incl. GST).

Exams and re-exams are conducted at Republic Polytechnic's Library, with booking hours aligned to the Library's operating hours.
