Skills-Based Modular Courses
Skills-Based Modular Courses (SBMCs) are designed to enable individuals to deepen work skills, without the need to enrol in a full qualification programme. The SBMCs are offered as part of the full qualification programmes, so individuals may opt for SBMCs as an alternative pathway to attain a Diploma or Specialist Diploma.

Designed to support working adults with diverse aspirations and commitments, SBMCs provide a practical approach to Continuing Education and Training (CET), enabling learners to upskill at their own pace while balancing professional and personal responsibilities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any minimum entry requirement for SBMCs?
The minimum entry requirements for SBMCs are the same as those stated for a Diploma (3 ‘O’ Levels/NITEC/Higher NITEC) or Specialist Diploma course (Poly or equivalent Diploma). Applicants may refer to the relevant course pages for the specific entry requirements.
Will I be able to enrol for an SBMC if I do not meet the entry requirements?
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or an entrance test.
How may I use SBMCs to attain a full Diploma or Post-Diploma?
After completing an SBMC, you may progress to enrol in the relevant Part-time Diploma or Post-Diploma programme. The modular credits earned through SBMC can be combined with other credits earned from the programme to meet the full graduation requirements of that Diploma or Post-Diploma, subject to the allowable candidature period (5 years for Diploma and 2 years for Post-Diploma).
What is the duration of an SBMC?
The duration of an SBMC ranges from 30 to 60 hours. You may refer to the course webpage under the “Schedule” tab for the duration of the respective course.
What is the frequency of the SBMC classes?
Classes will be held two to three times a week, usually from 6.30 pm / 7 pm to 9.30 / 10 pm on weekdays or 9 am to 12 pm and/ or 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturdays. You may refer to the course webpage under the “Schedule” tab for the schedule of the respective course.
